Serving the eyecare
Within the Group, Essilor’s Instruments division puts its expertise at the service of the different players in the optics and vision care industry. It designs, manufactures and distributes innovative products, technologies and services for opticians, optometrists and ophthalmologists covering all activities from medical practice to optical store: optical and vision care instruments (refraction, diagnostic and imaging), measurement , edging and mounting tools and sales support. In addition, the division provides a range of diagnostic equipment for preventive healthcare organizations.
Via its subsidiary Satisloh, acquired in 2008, the Group also provides prescription laboratories and lens manufacturers with equipment for surfacing, coating and finishing as well as precision machines for optical component manufacturers. Its technology solutions cover all steps in lens manufacturing, including digital surfacing solutions and fully automated lens production.
In 2013, Essilor acquired a 68.3% stake in Interactive Visual System (IVS), a French company and global leader in technology solutions for electronic measurements and sales aids for eye care professionals. That same year, Essilor announced the acquisition of the Canadian company Humanware, a worldwide leader in the design and distribution of assistive technologies for people who are blind or vision impaired.
