We want every individual to match his or her ambitions with Essilor’s growth strategy, all the while developing skills. And internal mobility is a great way to achieve this. Changing business entity, country, or gaining experience in transversal areas like finance, marketing, HR… or in a managerial position, may be an important step along your career path.
The Essilor group has developed a range of dedicated tools to promote internal mobility. Each person’s mobility requests are explored during performance reviews and discussed according to business needs and individual expectations.
Developing international
mobility
Supported by a dedicated HR team, international mobility is developing at the pace of the Group’s own growth. Today, many Group employees pursue long or short-term international assignments outside of their country of origin – ranging from short-term contracts (typically between 3 and 12 months), an expatriate contract (between 3 and 6 years), or a local contract. This mobility helps the Group transfer skills to countries where the resources do not currently exist locally and also develops the international experience of our future managers.
Following five years in France, I was keen to take on a more international role with global responsibilities in a different part of the Group. As Global Category Manager for raw materials, films and coating based in Singapore I’m in daily contact with R&D and industrial teams across the world, as well as with major suppliers throughout Asia. I really enjoy being close to our business priorities working in an office environment that feels as diverse as the world around us.
I love the international environment at Essilor and have experienced it first-hand – helping develop a new commercial offer for ASEAN and supporting a major European launch. I was looking for an overseas experience and was offered an opportunity in Brazil. Essilor was really considered what it could offer me as much as what I could contribute. From the beginning, I instantly felt part of the team in Brazil; there’s an incredible energy at all levels of the company in this very dynamic business market.
