Céline Carimalo: After getting my engineering degree in 2001, I spent the first 4 years of my career in France in R&D. I gained expertise in the design of ophthalmic lenses and participated in the development of new generations of products. In 2006, I joined the Singapore R&D center where I developed the competitive intelligence activity and have actively contributed to developing products tailored to Asian populations.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN MISSIONS IN YOUR JOB NOW?
C. C.: Since early 2016, I’ve been managing the Wearers Evaluation Center set up in the Asia CI&T in Singapore last year. My team’s goal is to bring us closer to consumers by testing our R&D assumptions in a more agile and systematic way.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR JOB AND WHAT MAKES YOU PROUD TO WORK AT THE ESSILOR GROUP?
C. C.: Beyond the diversity of topics I’ve have worked on since I joined Essilor, being in direct contact with local business teams, partners or even customers is extremely rewarding and informative. This is an incredible opportunity that I’ve had several times and that allows me to better understand issues on the ground and liaise with R&D.
