Joel Olivas: I joined the Essilor Group in November 1998, as Metrology Engineer in SOFI de Chihuahua, Mexico. After that, I had the opportunity to work in different areas of the organization like Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering, mainly in the fascinating area of polarized technology. I then took on the role of Global Engineering Mass Production Manager for the Mexican team in 2012.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN MISSIONS IN YOUR JOB NOW?
J. O.: As Global Engineering Manager, I’m responsible for developing and deploying industrial solutions to Essilor’s Mass Production facilities, including technical support. My core responsibilities are in the casting areas for semi-finished lenses, including polarized technology that’s an important market in continuous growth and identified by Essilor as a strategic product to develop.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR JOB AND WHAT MAKES YOU PROUD TO WORK AT THE ESSILOR GROUP?
J. O.: My job brings a wealth of technical challenges, as well as the excitement that comes with working cross-functionally with multiple teams at various sites. I manage a team of 17 creative and dynamic people with diverse expertise and profiles. I am proud to be part of the team that headed the implementation of polarized technology at SOFI, and witness the growth of a key product line that adds value to Essilor.
