October 9 is World Sight Day when people across the world will be joining forces to highlight the importance of good vision.
Two Essilor Group innovations were honored at Silmo international optics tradeshow: BBGR’s Sirus® Plus lenses in the Vision category award and IVS, with its Deep Lights device, in the Material/Equipment category.
Essilor was given a social responsibility award by financial and economic press group AGEFI in Paris on 24 September. The award takes into account social responsibility dimensions such as employee ownership, human resources, human capital management and stakeholder satisfaction.
Essilor inaugurated a new facility in Singapore housing its expanded headquarters for the AMERA (Asia, Middle East, Russia and Africa) region and the Group’s new state-of-the-art International Vision Academy. The new building was officially opened by Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Mr Teo Ser Luck and marks a key milestone in the Group’s 27-year presence in Singapore.
The $10,000 annual scholarship, in honor of Bernard Maitenaz inventor of the Varilux lens, will be administered by the charitable arm of the American Optometric Association.
October 9th is World Sight Day – an annual event organised by the World Health Organisation to highlight the importance of good vision. It’s become an important date for Essilor. With our mission – ‘improving lives by improving sight’ – and our position as a leader in the vision care industry, we take seriously our responsibility to raise awareness and encourage examinations by eye care professionals.
Following the launch of its new corporate logo in June this year, Essilor begins an ongoing campaign to bring the Group’s mission to life.
On 20th August, a team from Essilor joined 1500 adults supporting Secours Populaire’s annual event to give disadvantaged children the opportunity to go on holiday for a day. Some 5000 children from across the Paris region travelled to the Normandy coast to have a day at the seaside before their return to school.
Pair for a pair program aims to help improve the quality of life in developing countries as part of a number of initiatives to mark 85 years of Foster Grant sunglasses.
Volunteers travelled 2000km to run local screening and dispensing for children in a national vision care campaign for Essilor Vision Foundation.
