On October 1st, Essilor teams celebrated 30 years of lenses manufacturing at its SOFI plant in Chihuahua, Mexico. The facility was one of Essilor’s first mass production plants set up outside of France during the 1980s, a decade of international investment and growth for the Group.
A huge international mobilization of Essilor teams worldwide on 8 October brought good vision into focus for over 23,000 people. Employees across 49 countries organized a range of initiatives locally to raise awareness of the importance of good visual health and reach out to those most in need.

Trying on before you buy is second nature. But it’s not so easy when choosing a pair of glasses. Most consumers will be able to try on their new frames, but won’t get to ‘see’ the improved vision their new lenses provide before the lenses are made to measure and shipped to their local eye care professional after purchase.
