Essilor International wins innovation award for Crizal Prevencia research

The Fibre Innovation Award is part of an annual event organized by Opticsvalley and held at the Paris Pierre and Marie Curie University celebrating advances in technology designed to benefit society.

Essilor was one of 11 candidates selected by a jury to present a three-minute overview to an audience of over 200 people who then voted for the best innovation. Coralie Barrau, R&D Research Engineer in Optics, explained the research conducted by Essilor International and the Paris Vision Institute to identify precisely the specific band of blue light that’s most harmful to the retina in order to best protect eyes from the damaging effects of cumulative light exposure. 57% of the audience voted for Essilor’s project for its scientific discovery, technology innovation brought by Crizal Prevencia, positive impact on people and clarity of explanation.

The Fibre Innovation Award is organized by Opticsvalley, a Paris-based international organization that coordinates cooperation between companies and research laboratories in areas like optics, photonics and electronics.
