Essilor eyewear: the Arctic experience

On 10 May, the Bear Witness expedition team returned home following an epic 28 day 520 km journey in one of the most remote locations in the Canadian Arctic region. David Reid, Eric Brossier, Ingrid Ortlieb and Martin Garcia equipped themselves with high performance eyewear from Essilor on their quest to circumnavigate Bylot Island and bear witness to the changes taking place in this unique environment.

Costa sunglasses and Native Eyewear goggles offer premium lens and frame technology designed to give the very best performance in intense sun, snow, salt water and extreme weather conditions. Costa sunglasses feature patented 580 polarized lens technology in six colors. The six polarized lenses were developed to accommodate varying light conditions to improve comfort and reduce eye strain by eliminating reflective glare and absorb 100% of ultra violet and high-energy visible blue light. Native Eyewear goggles include a number of specialized coatings – anti-fog, multi-mirror, hydro-oleophobic – as well as color-filtering lenses that are carefully fitted to lightweight, durable and comfortable frames for optimal field-of-view with increased clarity.
