Essilor’s expanded campus in Kallang Bahru consists of a regional Center for Innovation and Technology and a new building combining the Group’s AMERA headquarters and its new International Vision Academy. Conceived to welcome over 3000 vision care professionals each year, the Academy will contribute towards building a stronger pipeline of skilled vision care professionals in Singapore and in the region at large.
“Singapore is the ideal location for the development of new business models and products adapted to the emerging markets of the region and is also already recognised as a global centre of excellence for research on myopia,” said Hubert Sagnières, CEO. “From Singapore, Essilor will continue to drive innovation and promote awareness on the importance of vision care throughout this vast AMERA region.”
Essilor’s regional Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT), housed in the company’s existing facility in Singapore, has embarked on clinical collaborations with the Singapore Eye Research Institute and a joint investigation of the epidemiology of pathologic myopia. The CIT’s proximity to local markets has enabled the design of lenses that are customized to local needs such as Essilor Azio or Varilux India. Cross-functional teams working in Essilor’s Singapore hub will continue to develop tailored products and adapted distribution channels to serve a regional market of five billion people.
Essilor has 25,000 employees across 127 commercial entities and 204 laboratories in 32 countries supported by this regional Amera hub in Singapore.
