Essilor celebrates 25 years of clear vision with Crizal
The Crizal story began in the 1990s as Essilor R&D teams looked to enhance the visual comfort of wearers through reducing glare and improving the transparency, resistance and durability of lenses. Combining a trio of technologies – anti-reflective, anti-scratch and anti-smudge – Essilor launched its Crizal coating in 1992, creating a new standard in clarity of vision.
Over the years Crizal has continued to lead the way to ensure clearest vision with better protection, for example adding filters against UV and harmful blue-violet light. Like all Essilor products, Crizal coatings are part of a thorough wearer test process that verifies that product improvements bring tangible benefits to wearers – from better UV protection to making them easier to clean. Today a lens with Crizal coating is sold every second worldwide.
