Essilor designs solutions for us all
The optical surface (or design) determines the correction of the lens. The optical surface optimizes visual acuity, i.e. the distance of discernment. There are as many designs as there are visual corrections.
The different types of optical surface
| Optical surface |
Description | Visual disorder corrected |
| Progressive lens |
The power of the lens varies smoothly with no break-point between:
|
Presbyopia |
| Bifocal lens |
The lens provides two distinct zones of correction:
|
Presbyopia |
| Single vision lens |
The correction is the same whatever the distance of vision. |
