New Business Planning Manager, Essilor of America - Columbus Distribution Center (OH)
What has been your career path at Essilor ?
My career with Essilor started in 2006, after I graduated from University of North Texas with B.S. in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. I started working as a Supply Chain Planner in charge of Finished and Semi-Finished Single Vision products, as well as non-Essilor portfolio products for Essilor Laboratories of America. In 2009, I was promoted to the position of New Business Planning Manager, responsible for developing and executing the master and sku level plan that support service level, inventory, new product release and manufacturing goals to meet customer demand.
What are the main missions in your job now ?
I am in charge of inventory planning which involves meeting high service levels to satisfy our customer needs at the same time keeping the inventory balanced and in check. Our distribution center can have around 135000 skus in stock and we ship more than 100 million lenses per year, in the U.S. in more than 22 other countries. We are also working on multiple network integration projects in order to optimize our organization.
Day after day, what does your job brings you?
The exciting part about being in Supply Chain is the fact that it is never boring! Every day brings new challenges that make me find the best possible solution to the situation at hand. With that, we are always striving for continuous process improvement to make our flows and activities more productive and efficient.
What is the project you are the most proud of?
I was strongly involved in the first network integration project which was completed successfully. Since then, this business has almost doubled in sales and the service level to the customer continues to grow. The project was challenging because we had to move the inventory to a new location, ensure proper replenishment and setup all of the systems without negatively affecting the customer.
How do you imagine the way your job will develop in the future?
I think we will continue to grow and bring in new business into our Columbus Distribution Center. I also see us diversifying, distributing and managing products, other than lenses. I foresee that I will be involved in those projects when this happens.
