Role and responsibilities
Listening to the expectations and needs of our customers and consumers
By anticipating changes in the ophthalmic optical market we can be better prepared for them. Forward planning therefore plays an important role within Essilor and this is the responsibility of the group's Marketing division.
Our Marketing division is divided into two parts:
The Strategic Marketing department
defines product priorities for the future in liaison with Research and guides communications strategies.
To do this it carries out wide-ranging monitoring, both in the field of ophthalmic optics and other cutting-edge research fields, as well as in-depth analysis of market data:
It monitors innovations in a wide range of fields, analyzes the competition's present and future offer and watches developments in the market and in customers and consumers by gathering information from Operational Marketing's networks, among other sources;
It then compares all this data to current technical capacities and those under development.
The Operational Marketing department
communicates about the products and services we offer our customers, particularly at the time of their commercial launch. These consumer communications are vital to the development of the group in a competitive context.
In order to develop the reputation of our brands, marketing also designs specific communications for each market. It therefore has a wide range of responsibilities:
It analyzes the needs and expectations of all our customers (prescriptors, distributors and consumers), then prepares the launch of new products and services according to priorities defined by Strategic Marketing;
In collaboration with Strategic Marketing, it plans and organizes communications for the launch of our new products and services. To achieve this, it creates sales-assistance tools for opticians and advisory tools for prescriptors.

Various functions according to your skills
We can offer you various positions within the Marketing division:
heads of product (junior or senior);
research executives;
analysts (specializing in statistics, technology watch, etc.);
product assistants;
Trade Marketing managers;
specialists in Relationship Marketing.
Profiles wanted
Beginners or those with experience;
Marketing graduates (business school, etc.) or graduates of an optics school;
Marketing skills required;
Optics background or at least interest in this field;
Ability to operate in an international environment;
Capable of working on very technical products.
And those characteristics which make the difference...
Analytical and synthetic approach, thoroughness and organization, curiosity and creativity, good people skills, teamwork and talented at communicating.
Career development prospects
The Essilor group offers you numerous opportunities and after three or four years in your position you can:
choose to continue to advance in the same area;
explore another marketing role in the same department;
move from the Strategic Marketing department to the Operational Marketing department or vice versa;
