Although this testing process is common in the medical and cosmetic fields, it is not systematic among manufacturers of ophthalmic lenses. Essilor is the only manufacturer to have all its products tested by wearers in real-life situations.

A method which has paid off
Varilux Comfort is the most-sold lens in the world and has been widely popular since its launch in 1993, with more than 100 million lenses sold in all.
To meet the needs of new daily practices - use of computers, Smartphones, digital tablets, etc. - Essilor has launched Varilux Comfort New Edition. These progressive lenses have been tested on a large sample of wearers. Participants in the tests gave feedback on numerous criteria: overall, intermediate, near and distance vision, as well as transition comfort from one vision to another, when walking, climbing stairs, etc. The result is very telling, since 100% of testers opted for the new version, taking all criteria into account.
