What is your job?

  • I am the principal scientist in R&D in the US in the Wet Coatings and Filters & Disruptive Technologies Department.

Could you describe your job?
  • My mission in R&D is always to bring innovation to the lens business and to improve lens materials and processes. I always keep a "Lego concept" in mind and try to think "out of the box". This means bringing together existing technologies from within or outside Essilor for new innovations; or rethinking a technology to make the innovation happen. At the same time, we monitor intellectual property and scientific articles or visit conferences so as to be able to propose new ideas.

On which project are you working?
  • Currently, I am working on a new polarized lens project where my main contribution is to define the best process and the best conditions to develop the thinnest lens on the market. In this project, I have the opportunity to build strong partnerships outside my core expertise.

What makes this project innovative?
  • We have filed several patents on this technology and we have been able to develop a product with outstanding performance.
