Essilor is one of the 40 leading stocks on the NYSE-Euronext Paris stock exchange.

 

In 2005, Essilor joined the CAC 40 index, the benchmark index of stocks traded on the NYSE-Euronext Paris stock market.

 

Essilor joins the CAC 40 index

 

On December 10, 2004, Euronext announced that Essilor would be included in the CAC 40 index as from January 5, 2005.

 

Composition of the CAC 40 index

 

Stocks are selected for inclusion in the index by the Euronext Paris Scientific Index Council, based on the following criteria:

 

- Market capitalization, with only the 100 largest stocks considered for inclusion.

 

- Liquidity, as estimated according to two yardsticks: the existence of a broad market (free float, daily trading amounts and volumes) and the market impact of trading in the stock (average price range and volatility).

 

Essilor’s weighting in the CAC 40

 

As of November 30, 2008, Essilor had the 32sd largest market capitalization, representing nearly 1% of the index.

Essilor is a “Health Care Equipment & Services” stock.

Essilor was previously included in the CAC 40 from June 1988, when the index was introduced, until May 2, 1990.
