400 laboratories for optimal service


The role of prescription laboratories is to deliver lenses to professional customers (opticians, independent optometrists, wholesalers and optical chain stores) as quickly as possible. The Essilor network includes prescription laboratories and numerous independent laboratories which distribute its lenses.

A total of 402 laboratories around the world enable the group to enhance its local service and ensure optimum safety in relation to product distribution.



Customized high technology

Essilor Group prescription laboratories are capable of producing several billion combinations of ophthalmic lenses (materials, design, power and coatings).

The laboratories handle:
  • inishing of semi-finished lenses;
  • manufacturing of the most advanced progressive lenses.

The development of new generation products requires total control of the new technologies in terms of surfacing, treatments and sizing/mounting of lenses. In order to pass on the benefit of these advances directly to their customers, Essilor laboratories are backed up by engineering and technical support services.
